Tick-Borne Disease Awareness
14:08In 2025, the Environmental Committee initiated efforts to protect residents from a host of diseases caused by tick bites. Those efforts include the creation of an Ad Hoc Tick-Borne Diseases Education and Prevention Committee. The members of the Ad Hoc committee will be introduced. The Environmental Committee will also hear from three members of the community who will share their personal experiences with chronic Lyme disease. Ticks are now active, and the community must be vigilant as they begin spring clean-up of their yards and gardens and venture into nature.
LLJ Youth Fishing Experience
51:32Chris Mumby, Live Like Jackson Youth Opportunities, is proposing a youth fishing experience at the City Pier from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, June 13, 2026. The event is intended to give young people the opportunity to learn new skills while enjoying the outdoors with their peers. The newly established nonprofit was created in honor of Chris’s 12-year-old son, Jackson Mumby, who passed away unexpectedly in 2025 and had a deep love for life and the outdoors. The Pier will not be closed for this event. Sixteen (16) parking spaces will be blocked off for registration and exhibit tables/tents.
Howard Hanna Run for Little Lives 5K
59:19Haley Griess, Howard Hanna, has submitted an application to hold a 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, April 25th at 11 a.m. The event will start at the gazebo in Kershaw Park and continue into Lakefront Park looping into Lagoon Park and finally ending back at Lakefront Park. There will be one solo pedestrian crossing at Lakeshore Drive from Hotel Canandaigua into Lagoon Park.
Lake Outlet Gates Presentation by Colliers Engineering and Design
01:02:45Kyle Keubler from Colliers Engineering and Design will be presenting findings and recommendations as part of their evaluation of the City’s outlet gate structures. He will discuss gates condition, capacity, and engineering recommendations for repair. This will also fulfill the public presentation requirement of the Lake Outlet Gates Grant awarded by the NYS Department of State.
