Howell Street Parking
00:21In response to several resident concerns regarding a dangerous intersection and traffic patterns at the intersection of North Main Street and Howell Street, the Director of Public Works suggests amending the current Parking Restrictions for Howell Street to restrict parking on the north and south sides of the streets to help with visibility and vehicle safety. The restrictions would eliminate parking 100 feet from the curbline of North Main Street to the east on both the north and south side of Howell St. When/if the ordinance is approved, the DPW will appropriately sign this area to restrict parking and provide greater visibility for motorists.
BID - Ticketed Events at The Central
10:50The BID would like to grow the caliber of events at The Central on Main. In 2025, for example, the BID, in partnership with the ROC/FLX Beverage Trail, sponsored a ticketed tasting event where ticket holders received tastings, a collectable glass and other items while non ticketed attendees didn’t receive the same level of experience. In 2026, they are exploring different types of experiences where a promoter and BID may need to charge an entrance fee to attendees to help offset costs, which would close the event to the general public. The BID is proposing up to four (4) events in 2026 with all details still in flux. All events would be set up in a contract and managed by the BID. The BID would need to compensate the City, 5 percent of ticket sales, for the loss of public use during these events.
Truck Noise on North Main Street
17:28Last year, citizens with homes and Bed and Breakfast establishments on North Main complained that traffic, primarily truck traffic at night or early morning hours, was disruptive. A representative group of citizens met with the City Manager, members of Council, DPW staff, the police chief, and a representative from NYSDOT. The City Manager, in response to the complaints, requested that the NYSDOT conduct a speed study of Route 332, review potential additional signage related to limited engine brake noise and consider a vibration study. This item was added as an informational item to provide the Council and the community the response from the NYSDOT (truck noise signage is not a MUTCD approved sign, repaving of Main Street in 2026 should resolve vibration concerns) and results of the speed study (no recommendations for speed reductions).
County Loading - WRRF capacity
56:47To better understand existing system capacity and future needs, the City plans to continue is ongoing professional relationship with Larson Design Group to complete a Comprehensive Wastewater Resource Recovery Facility (WRRF) Capacity Study. It is important to note that current sanitary sewer loading and flow constraints may limit pending development projects and could result in a pause on new development requiring new sanitary sewer connections. City and County staff are scheduled to meet next Thursday to discuss these issues and the current City/County Intermunicipal Agreement (IMA) to clarify respective responsibilities and identify areas of concern. This item was added for informational purposes as well as to approve the professional services contract with Larson Design Group.
Ad-Hoc Tick-Borne Disease Education and Prevention Committee
01:27:53Members of the Environmental Committee are exploring the creation of an Ad Hoc Tick-Borne Disease Education and Prevention Committee in response to the continued rise in tick-borne illnesses in the City and County. Building on recommendations presented to City Council in September 2025 and supported by 2025 Public Health data, the proposed Advisory Committee would be led by the Environmental Committee and include community members with relevant expertise. Its purpose would be to develop evidence-based education and prevention strategies and to advance coordination with Ontario County and state partners.
